Cedar shake and natural stone roofs are built to last for decades, but in the mountains they collect moss, algae, lichen and dirt, especially on shaded slopes. Buildup like that makes a sound roof look worn out and can hold moisture against the material.
The wrong cleaning method, such as high pressure or harsh chemicals, can lift, split or wear the very material you are trying to save. We clean and renew these roofs with gentle, low-pressure methods matched to the material, so the roof you already have keeps doing its job.
What we deal with
- Moss, algae and lichen growth
- Dark streaking and staining
- Gray, weathered or dried-out cedar
- Dirt and debris buildup that makes a sound roof look tired
How we approach it
Look at the roof and the material
Cedar and natural stone behave differently, so the plan starts with what is actually on the roof.
Clean with low pressure
We remove growth and buildup with gentle methods rather than blasting the surface.
Renew and protect
We bring the material back and protect it where it calls for it.
Common questions
Can you pressure wash a cedar shake roof?
We do not recommend it. High pressure can damage cedar shakes. We use low-pressure methods matched to the material.
Do you replace roofs?
No. We clean and renew existing cedar and stone roofing. Replacement and structural repair are done by roofers.
